Ok, so my latest movie is American Gangster with Denzel Washington. The plot is of course Frank (Denzel) becomes this big time gangster selling drugs in Harlem in the late 60’s and 70’s. What makes him more successful than any other guy? He buys DIRECT from Thailand and other area countries during the peak of the Vietnam war. He use US military personnel to transport it back to the US. Yep, you read that right.
For a gangster movie I liked it a lot. It was over the top violence like some movies (Casino, Goodfellas, etc) but showed more of the characters. And, I always like Denzel. He really does a fantastic job as usual. Some of the co-stars i thought only did fair. I *love* Cuba Gooding, Jr. but I really didn’t like his character nor how he played it.
The greatest thing about this movie? Based on a true story. The worst thing? Its a true story and this guy that killed people and effed with people’s lives gets out after only 15 years in prison. He should have rotted away. But I can’t blame the movie for that. 4 out of 5 monkeys

Your movie coblogger got her act together. This was a movie I dreaded seeing, they overplayed the previews. I felt like I knew the movie by heart before i saw it.
Then I watched it.
Damn compelling.
I still love Russell Crowe (I still see him as Gladiator) and Denzel has never disappointed me. They just need to lay off on the previews.
